Sportsmanship Evaluations

Sportsmanship evaluations let coaches log behavioral observations for each player across a structured set of categories. Evaluations appear on the player profile, can be trended over time, and can be included in report cards shared with families.

Accessing the Sportsmanship Card

Open any player profile (tap their name on the Roster screen). The Sportsmanship card appears below the stats and mechanics sections. It shows the total number of evaluations logged and a list of recent entries.

Adding an Evaluation

  1. Tap + Add on the Sportsmanship card
  2. Set the date — defaults to today
  3. Score one or both Primary categories (at least one is required)
  4. Tap Situational ▼ to expand the situational categories if applicable
  5. Add a note describing the specific situation or behavior (optional)
  6. Tap Save Evaluation

Scoring Scale

Each category is scored on a 0–3 scale:

ScoreLabelWhen to use
0Needs AttentionBehavior was a problem and was addressed
1DevelopingInconsistent — player is aware but still working on it
2SolidConsistent expected behavior
3ExemplaryStood out in a positive way; led by example

Categories

Primary (log every session)

CategoryWhat it measures
EffortHustle, energy, engagement — did the player compete fully?
CoachabilityReceptiveness to instruction and feedback during the session

At least one Primary category must be scored to save an evaluation.

Situational (log only when applicable)

CategoryWhen to log it
Self-ControlA notable emotional situation occurred — positive or negative
RespectPlayer's conduct toward teammates, opponents, or umpires was noteworthy
Team FirstPlayer showed sacrifice or selflessness, or the opposite

Leave situational categories unscored when no noteworthy situation occurred during the session. Logging every category every time dilutes the signal — these are meant to document specific moments.

Notes

Use the notes field to record the specific situation or behavior. A note is optional but makes evaluations meaningful over time:

"Stayed positive after striking out twice, encouraged the next batter."

"Argued a called strike — we talked about it after the inning."

Notes appear directly on each evaluation entry in the player profile.

Including Sportsmanship in Report Cards

When generating a report card, toggle Include sportsmanship evaluation to on. All logged evaluations for the player are included in the report card — there is no date filter for sportsmanship. If no evaluations have been logged, the toggle is available but the section will be empty.

Sportsmanship data in the shared report card is visible to families. Use it to start a direct conversation, not to surprise anyone — consider discussing observations in person first.

Editing and Deleting

Tap Edit or Delete on any evaluation entry in the player profile. Deletes are permanent and cannot be undone.
